Day 15 Lower Back Pain Yoga Rescue
Today’s yoga sequence takes my favourite and most effective yoga postures from our Healthy Lower Backs Course and puts them into a 30 minutes back pain rescue video. So if you feel your lower back is a little sore, vulnerable or tense, then this practice is for you! If practiced regularly it can also help to prevent future flare ups, as it will strengthen your back and abdominals and realign the hips and spinal muscles.
The lumbar spine consists of 5 vertebrae L1-L5 and beneath that the Sacrum and S1. The junction between L5 and S1 is vulnerable to pain and injury as it carries the most load and is the spinal junction that moves the most. While the lumbar spine is sturdy and resilient, it is subject to a high degree of stress and loads, which may cause various problems, resulting in pain.
Regular practice of this sequence will ensure your back is safe, on and off the mat.
Above is the Sacroiliac Stabiliser, (SIS) a wonderful posture to reduce lower back pain, strengthen the core, release spasms in the glutes and piriformis, relieve sciatica and realign the hips. this is one of the postures we focus on today.
