Day 30 Let Go Yoga Vairagya
It’s the last day of our March 30 Day Yoga Journey. Well done if you have practiced more this month than ever before!
Today we are, “letting go” in our yoga practice. There are many circumstances in life that wind us up, (activating the sympathetic nervous system) and relatively few that calm us down, (activating the parasympathetic nervous system). Yoga works on enhancing the PNS, helping us to reduce our intrinsic anxiety levels and our flight/fight response – and, “letting go,” is a fundamental part of this process. Vairagya is the principle of letting go of attachments.
Much of Yoga comprises letting go of habits and attachments. We need to address the numerous and diverse physical and mental ways that we, ‘hold on’ to actions and attitudes that cause us stress.
So I invite you today to let go of any expectations; let go of knowing how to do a posture: let go of any ego or pride if you can do something; let go of tired muscles; let go of gripping and tightness in the body: let go of negative thoughts: let go of anything holding you back; and anything that does not serve you any more… Hopefully this will allow you to feel calm and less anxious and hopefully a little happier too.
Thank you so much for joining us for the March Tone Up & Stress Down 30 Day Yoga Challenge, it’s been fun and I hope you can feel the benefit from your daily yoga practice. Thank you.
