Day 8 Eyes Closed Yoga

eyes, closed, shut, yoga, sensesIt’s been a busy week here at Body Soul Yoga! How have you been this week?

We started the week with Day 8, Eyes Closed Yoga!  When we close our eyes we reduce the amount of information we are receiving via the senses. So rather than being overwhelmed by the outer world, we can turn inwards to our inner world. Here we open our inner eyes and we see what is not visible to the eye. “Sometimes, to be able to see, you have to close your eyes and open your heart. Only then will you be able to discover what’s truly important, what really counts. When you open your inner eyes you satisfy your soul and your horizons will widen and new possibilities will arise.” The calm steadiness of the senses and mind is called Yoga. So close your eyes and please let me know how this makes you feel.

If closing the eyes makes you feel uncomfortable then try to lower your gaze. You can also lower your gaze if you lose balance or need to check where you are. See how your yoga practice changes when you turn your gaze inwards.
