Lady Niguma’s Sun Salutation | Yoga Warm Up
Lady Niguma’s Sun Salutation. A great warm up to your yoga practice.
In case you missed it – Lady Niguma’s Yoga Sun Salutation Warm Up. This beautiful version of Surya Namaskara is taken from Lady Niguma’s Chakra Series, as taught to me by the lovely Nicole Vigna, who I studied with some 8 years ago. She herself, is a student of Geshe Michael Roach who translated the Lady Niguma teachings. If you’d like to find out more please see Joyful Yoga of the Inner Body and the Diamond Cutter Institute. (Geshe Michael Roach’s teachings and projects). This is my interpretation of Lady Niguma’s Sun Salutation Surya Namaskara. Essentially it is a sequence to warm the body and allow the flow of prana through the wind channels and to loosen knots within the channels, nadis, and chakras, so that we feel happier and so our body “sings!” Take the Bijas Mantras first and then this asana practice. What is interesting is that this sequence leads with the LEFT foot stepping back. “This practice utilises feminine wisdom and female qualities and creativity associated with the left side of the body.” [Nicole Vigna.] It is a system of yoga created by a woman predominantly for women. I have broken down the sun salutation for beginners and those interested to find out more. I will be adding more videos soon to the Lady Niguma Chakra Series, (and like Star Wars, I start with Volume III and will add I, II, IV etc later!
