You can do this lying down, seated on a chair, kneeling or sitting down cross-legged. Find a comfortable position. Then visualise a square and imagine your breath travelling along the square, (travelling in a clockwise direction). Start at the bottom left hand corner, at the heart on the image. Inhale up the first left side of the square and slowly count to yourself (in your head): 1, 2, 3. Hold your breath as you travel across the top of the square (from left to right) and count: 1, 2, 3. Count to yourself as you exhale down the right side of the square: 1, 2, 3. And hold your breath across the bottom to return to the start and count: 1, 2, 3.
After a minute or two of this you should be feeling calmer, and more centred.
Let me know how you get on. If you lose the counting or the image of the square, just start again or simply focus on your natural breath.
