Give A Little Love To Yourself This Valentine’s Week

Self Love Is Important

As Valentine’s day draws closer, we are reminded not only to take time to love those close to us; but also to ensure that we are nurturing and taking care and loving ourselves.  And, once reminded, this self care and love for ourselves and others should happen everyday.

Anyone who has ever flown has heard these wise words: “Should there be a drop in cabin pressure, please put your own mask on first, before helping others.”  So, in order to help and love others, you must take care of yourself first.

Self-care is very important. It’s also a key element of self-love.  Making sure you get enough sleep and eating good, fresh foods to keep you healthy and strong, are excellent ways to show yourself love. Taking care of your body through yoga and exercise and taking care of your mind through rest and relaxation, and taking care of your spirit through stillness, are ways to feel good about yourself.

Yoga Heart Opening Practice

So this week in our yoga classes we are going to show ourselves kindness, compassion and love through an open heart, Anahata Chakra yoga practice.  We also practice the yoga principle, ‘Ahimsa’, which reminds us to be good to ourselves and non-harming to ourselves and others.  So stop beating yourself up and realise that you are amazing, unique and loved.
