Day 15 Chest Opening Yoga Flow

Today’s yoga flow is designed to open the chest, throat and heart centre, allowing you to breathe more easily, and feel freedom in the heart centre. This sequence will allow you to feel more confident and will improve your posture as you consciously lift your heart and roll your shoulders back.

Benefits of Heart Opening Poses:

*Improve Posture. Many heart opening poses utilise muscles along the backline of your body. Backbends keep your spine flexible and young!  Back bends also make us feel more confident and extrovert, rather than the introverted and inward-facing forward bend.

* Clear the Heart Chakra. The Heart Chakra, located at the centre of the chest, is thought to be tied to love, balance, intimacy, and compassion, among other things.  When the heart is open we are ready to give and receive love.  When the energy of the heart centre is flowing well, you feel grounded through the lower chakra but also free and uplifted through the higher ones.

*Increase Energy.  Anahata is a major energy centre in the physical body.  It is associated with the element air and prana and life force.  So when we connect with the chest centre and draw in every breath we can feel stronger and more energetic.
