The Book, Relaxations CD and Home Practice: You will be given the comprehensive ‘Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs’ book written by Alison Trewhela and Anna Semlyen, published by Lotus Publishing. In the research trial participants had this students’ manual as an accompaniment to the course to remind them of things learnt in the 12 classes. You will be taught to incorporate postural and stress-relieving techniques into your daily life and to practise simple yoga effectively at home. To begin with, we will suggest you practise almost every day, but once your condition has improved, practising for 30 minutes twice a week is likely to help to maintain long-term health improvements, as shown in our research. You will also receive the 4-track Relaxations CD to enable you to learn how to release physical, mental and emotional tension. You will receive home practice hand-out sheets throughout the course.
Payment: Total of £200 for this 12-week course that teaches you to help yourself forever. A Registration & Resources Fee (£56 – for published book, 4-track relaxations CD, practice sheets, hand-outs, registration) is due to book your place, before Class 1, and then please arrange to pay the Teaching Fees of £12 per class directly to the teacher in two instalments due 1 week before Class 1 (£72) and Class 5 for class 7 and beyond (£72). You may find your employer/NHS/Council/health insurer will subsidize costs in view of the evidence-base of long-term health self-management, e.g. 70% reduction of work absenteeism equating to £800 in lost productivity - I can provide an invoice/receipt for this purpose. Thank you.
